Warren Alpert Foundation Request for Proposals to Enhance Training and Retention of Scholars in Computational Biology/Artificial Intelligence

The Warren Alpert Foundation is seeking proposals that will enhance the development and retention of scholars in the field of Computational Biology/AI (CBAI) including investigators at Masters (leading to advanced degrees), Doctoral and Post-Doctoral Levels. The objective of this RFP is to identify and sponsor programs that have the capacity to provide high-quality training and support to developing scholars focused on healthcare related CBAI and the underlying science in developing therapeutics and treatment modalities.
Proposals should outline a comprehensive plan to: provide scholars with a rigorous education in CBAI that prepares them for successful careers; foster a supportive and inclusive community; develop programs that encourage and support diversity and inclusion in the field of CBAI; implement strategies to enhance the retention and development of scholars and researchers in the program and increase the number and quality of graduates who pursue careers in CBAI related to heath care; and generate and support internships or similar opportunities for scholars that reinforce career paths and development.
This is a limited submission opportunity and the Harvard University Cambridge campus and the Harvard Chan School of Public Health, as one unit, may nominate one candidate for this opportunity. To be considered for the nomination, potential applicants must submit an expression of interest (EOI) to vpr@harvard.edu by Friday, June 30th at 12 PM. The EOI should Include the following information:
- PI Name and CV
- Names and titles of any additional lead personnel
- Brief summary (two to three sentences) of the overall proposed program, proposer’s experience, and ability to provide training and education focused on the healthcare related field and technology development of CBAI.
- Brief summary (two to three sentences) of the proposed curriculum for post masters, doctoral and post-doctoral programs in CBAI.
- Brief summary (two to three sentences) of facilities and resources available to support scholars in the program, including computing resources, laboratory facilities, and access to data and other resources.
