Good Morning,

Please see below two opportunities to paticipate in upcoming DARPA workshops and webinars. AI Forward workshops will explore new directions for trustworthy artificial intelligence. The Imagining Practical Applications for a Quantum Tomorrow (IMPAQT) webinar will facilitate expert technical exchange of ideas on practical uses for noisy quantum. More information and registration details can be found in the summaries below:

To tackle this challenge, the DARPA Information Innovation Office (I2O) will host “AI Forward,” an initiative to explore future directions for AI. DARPA invites prospective attendees to submit an application to attend this workshop. As a part of the application, individuals will be asked to submit an executive summary outlining a compelling research direction towards trustworthy AI with applications for national security. AI Forward will consist of two workshops in summer 2023 (one virtual between June 13-16, 2023, and one in-person in Boston between July 31-August 2, 2023), during which participants will be asked to brainstorm new directions for the field that have the potential to create trustworthy AI while using reasonable levels of resources. At the end of the workshops, participants will be able to integrate their perspectives with those of other participants into white papers, which DARPA will consider in forming its AI strategy going forward. As a part of that strategy, DARPA will likely create two new Artificial Intelligence Exploration projects (AIEs) based on the outputs of the two AI Forward Workshops. Participants will be able to submit their work for consideration to these AIEs, which will be announced broadly to solicit proposals. The deadline to apply is March 20, 2023.

DARPA is sponsoring a live webinar on Tuesday, April 11, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. to highlight an Advanced Research Concept (ARC) topic called Imagining Practical Applications for a Quantum Tomorrow (IMPAQT). The IMPAQT ARC Opportunity is inviting submissions of abstracts for innovative exploratory research concepts in the technical domain of quantum computing applications. Webinar registrants will have the opportunity to hear from government experts, university professors, and industry-leading quantum hardware providers as well as participate in live question-and-answer sessions. Participants must register to attend the webinar by April 7 through the registration website: https://events.sa-meetings.com/IMPAQT.
