The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Office of Digital Humanities is accepting applications a new opportunity, Dangers & Opportunities of Technology: Perspectives from the Humanities. This program supports research that examines technology and its relationship to society through the lens of the humanities. NEH is particularly interested in projects that examine the role of technology in shaping current social and cultural issues. More information can be found in the synopsis below:

 

NEH Dangers and Opportunities of Technology: Perspectives from the Humanities

FAS/SEAS/OSP Deadline: January 26, 2023

Sponsor Deadline: February 2, 2023

Award Amount: Up to $75,000 for projects led by a single researcher and up to $150,000 for projects led by a collaborative team. Project duration may be up to 24 months. NEH anticipates making 9-12 awards.

 

The Dangers and Opportunities of Technology: Perspectives from the Humanities (DOT) program supports humanistic research that examines the relationship between technology and society. NEH is particularly interested in projects that examine current social and cultural issues that are significantly shaped by technology. The DOT program can support activities such as: course releases, research assistance, research travel, community partner participation, conducting studies or interviews, convenings, data collection and analysis, experiments or prototyping, designing curricular materials, or development or production of articles, books, documentary films, web sites, or other forms of intellectual output. This program will support projects at any research stage.

 

Individuals may serve as a project director (or co-director for the Collaborative category) on one DOT application per deadline but may be listed as personnel (not in a leadership role) on more than one DOT application per deadline.
