Greetings,
Please see the announcement below regarding the internal competition to select nominees to submit proposals to the Mathers Foundation, which supports basic research in the life sciences with translational potential. This year, the Foundation has transitioned from three to two grant review cycles per year. As it limits institutions to no more than four applications per cycle, the Office of the Vice Provost for Research is conducting a call for pre-applications to select candidates to apply to the Foundation's Spring cycle. More information can be found in the synopsis and links below.
G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation
Harvard Pre-Proposal Deadline: February 1, 2024 at 11:59 PM
Sponsor Portal Registration Deadline: March 8, 2024
Sponsor Letter of Intent Deadline (if nominated): March 22, 2024
Award Amount: The Foundation has established new budget guidelines that allow applicants to request up to $750,000 over three years. Indirect costs may not exceed 10% of this amount. This falls short of the 15% overhead required by FAS/SEAS policy. Please discuss this with your grants administrator before preparing an application.
The mission of the G. Harold and Leila Y. Mathers Foundation is to advance knowledge in the life sciences by sponsoring scientific research that has the potential for translational applications. Areas of interest include, but are not limited to, immunology, the microbiome, genomics, structural biology, cellular physiology, and neuroscience. The Foundation does not fund medical imaging technology-related projects, electrical engineering technology development projects, plant biology research, oceanography, space exploration, global warming-related research, clinical trials/drug discovery/pre-clinical drug discovery, or COVID-19-related research.
This is a limited submission opportunity. The Office of the Vice Provost for Research will conduct an internal competition to select up to four Harvard nominees for the Mathers Foundation Spring 2024 application cycle. To be considered for the Harvard nomination, potential applicants must first submit an internal pre-proposal via the link above.
Questions from FAS or SEAS faculty about this opportunity may be directed to research_development@fas.harvard.edu.
